011 Seet van Hout
Artworks by Seet van Hout are almost as tactile as natural matter: colourful, winding, quivering and flowing, natural forms tumble over one another. Van Hout’s point of departure is the beauty and capriciousness, the bloom and decay, of flowers in her own garden.
When applying paint to canvas or paper, she doesn’t shy away from using a range of techniques. She rolls, pours, strokes, perforates and splatters, allowing the paint to follow its own path. Sometimes she adds embroidery. Each work starts with a sketch based on living plants or flowers. After that, intuition and the flow of the paint take over and new colours and forms emerge.

Kunstwerken van Seet van Hout zijn bijna zo tastbaar als de stoffelijke natuur: kleurrijk, kronkelend, tintelend en vloeiend buitelen natuurvormen over elkaar heen. Van Houts uitgangspunt is de schoonheid en grilligheid, de bloei en het verval, van bloemen in haar eigen tuin.
Bij het aanbrengen van de verf of doek of papier schuwt ze geen enkele techniek: ze rolt, giet, strijkt, perforeert en spat, en laat de verf zijn eigen weg volgen. Soms voegt ze borduursels toe. Elk werk start met een schets die gebaseerd is op levende planten of bloemen. Daarna nemen intuïtie en de gang van de verf het over en ontstaan nieuwe kleuren en vormen.
